A week ago, I visited a Space NK store in Canary Wharf, in hope of purchasing the Nars Creamy Concealer in the shade custard - instead, I left with my makeup ruined, and quite a horrible experience.
So walking into the store, I walked directly to the Nars counter. I swatched the Creamy Concealer in Custard, and found that it was perfect for under the eyes. I also tried the tinted moisturizer in Alaska and found it a bit too yellow for my liking. I was doing pretty well on my own..
Until, one of the store shop assistants asked if she can help. I initially refused, but then decided to go ahead and ask for help in finding a good under eye concealer. I knew something was wrong straight away when the lady went off on a tangent and started showing me highlighters and other products I didn't really want nor was interested in.
Finally (after about 10 mins), she decided to sit me down and try on a concealer by the brand Becca. She started of using her fingers to blend an incredibly orange shade under my eyes, and then went on to use a PENCIL brush. The pencil brush was really scratchy and felt really uncomfortable under the eyes.
Once she handed me the mirror, I was horrified. The concealer was cakey, streaky and not just under my eye, but down my cheek as well.
The shop assistant convinced herself that the colour match was wrong, and then asked if she could try the Kevyn Aucoin Concealer (which I've heard amazing things about), and I reluctantly agreed (in hope that she'd manage to get it right this time). In fact, this time was worse. As the KA concealer is so pigmented, you only need a tiny amount - however, she used a fat blob. Then she realised it was too much and tried blending it EVERYWHERE. All under my eyes, my cheeks and even on top of my eyeshadow. The worse thing was - it was the wrong shade.
I immediately requested for it all to be taken off - and left with angry skin, and a horrible experience.
Now, in all honesty - I usually don't experience things like that at Space NK. The staff are usually really helpful and know what they're doing.
I was really disappointed. I don't think I'll ask for help - in a long, long time.
